To kick off our first entry, we’d like to tell you about a recent trip CEO & Co-founder, Cosmo King, and VP of Business Development, Mark Gleason, took to London, England. The trip, which was organized by The Maritime Alliance (TMA) of San Diego, California, was the first leg of a broader BlueTech Trade Mission to Europe that included stops in England, France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

The London leg was centered around Oceanology International, the world’s leading ocean technology marine science exhibition and conference. ioCurrents, along with 15 other TMA-member companies, hosted a BlueTech Pavilion at the 3-day show which included over 8,000 attendees. We also had the opportunity to participate in the global BlueTech Cluster Alliance (BTCA) meeting. The BTCA, whose members include maritime cluster organizations from Canada, France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, the UK, and the US, was recently formed to coordinate the activities of clusters around the world and to foster innovation and economic development in the maritime space.

Overall the trip was a wonderful opportunity to meet with potential customers, to learn about new and innovative technologies and products, and to connect or re-connect with colleagues from around the world operating in the Blue Tech space. We want to thank The Maritime Alliance, the US Commercial Service/International Trade Administration Maritime Technology Export Initiative, and the Washington State Department of Commerce for providing support and funding for the trip.
